You will find out what types of air conditioning exist, what the average price of an installation is and what points to watch out for in this article. Do you have any questions or would you like to know more about air conditioners? Then you can find and download our brochure at the bottom of this page.
Types of air conditioners
There are different types of air conditioning systems
- Fixed air conditioning. A fixed air conditioner is installed in one fixed place in a room. In this, you have 2 options:
- A monoblock air conditioner has one unit in which all cooling or heating components are located. So no outdoor unit is needed, making installation easier. Typically, this variant is also energy-efficient.
- A split air conditioner on the other hand, has two units: an indoor as an outdoor unit. This kind often has a high cooling capacity and is slightly quieter. However, the outdoor unit also makes for a more complex and expensive installation.
- A split air conditioner can be extended to a multi-split air conditionerg system. In doing so, one outdoor unit can be connected to up to eight indoor units.
- Mobile air conditioner. The name gives it away: this involves a movable system with wheels. Here, too, the division into monoblock systems (with a hose for hot air to the outside) and split air conditioners (with an outdoor unit) applies.
Different brands of air conditioning
There are several brands of air conditioners operating on the Flemish brands. We hereby list the best-known ones:
How air conditioning works
Just about every air conditioner, regardless of type, consists of a compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator. Together, they reduce indoor temperatures:
- The compressor increases the pressure of the refrigerant, bringing it to a gaseous state. This increases both the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant.
- The hot, gaseous refrigerant flows through the condenser coil. Here, it releases heat to the (outside) ambient air or a fan, causing the refrigerant to condense and turn into a liquid.
- At the end of the condenser is an expansion valve, through which the liquid refrigerant will pass. This valve abruptly lowers the pressure, causing the refrigerant to evaporate and absorb heat from the environment.
- As the evaporated coolant flows through the air conditioner's tubes, a fan inside the air conditioner blows the cooled air evenly into the living space.
- The refrigerant goes through the compression and condensation process again to continue the cycle. This ensures continuous removal of heat from the chamber, creating a cooling effect.
Enrich your living space with a monoblock air conditioner
At AquaConsult, we have focused on air conditioning installations without an outdoor unit. This means that our air conditioning offers maximum flexibility without the need for a major installation with a bulky outdoor unit on the facade or roof. Our air-conditioning systems are distinguished by the absence of an unattractive outdoor unit, while offering all the benefits of traditional air-conditioning systems. The only noticeable difference is in the aesthetic aspect compared to other systems.
Moreover, our air conditioning solutions are significantly more cost-efficient than installations with a traditional outdoor unit. For these specific features, we work closely with our sister company AeroConsult, which specialises in monoblock air-conditioning systems. Air purification is a high priority at AeroConsult. They also focus on air conditioners that go beyond just cooling, but can also ventilate and heating.

Installation of air conditioning on any exterior wall
A monoblock can be easily installed in any room with an exterior wall. All that is needed to install this air conditioning system is:
- The mounting template and mounting kit (A)
- The tubes for the holes (B)
- The external grilles (C)
Using a special drilling head, we perform a drilling so that the air-conditioning system can be connected to the outside air. This gives you all the advantages of a fixed air conditioning system without all the disadvantages that exist with mobile air conditioners (they are very bulky, take up a lot of space and devour energy).
